Climate change is the long term shift of expected weather patterns in a specific geographic region. The predicted change of the climate in the UK, as well as many other regions around the world will see many areas becoming flooded.
According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the global sea level is expected to rise between nine and 88 centimetres by 2100, with a 'best estimate' of 50 centimetres.
This is due to global warming which is causing the ice caps to melt and major cities including London, New York and Tokyo are seen as being at huge risk due to their locations.
Ironically, although large portions of coast line and flood plains will be lost to water, due to the increased global temperature people may be forced to move closer to water sources as it becomes a rarer resource on land.
