Floating Cities
Referred to as Ocean Colonisation, settlements on sea are those that float on the surface or are free moving submersibles or are anchored to the sea bed. The main advantage for this is that floating structures offer a new expansion of the area habitable by human society, thus expanding the resources available, including food and energy production.
Although this may seem like science fiction, floating structures are a very real part of modern day life, in marinas, on canals, rivers and lakes all over the world. With the creation of Very Large Floating Structures, such as the prototype Floating Runway in Tokyo Bay the new possibilities for floating structures in the 21st century is becoming increasingly apparent.
